Yesterday I was at the CraftFactory at the Mattress Factory Museum in the North Side here in Pittsburgh. I had a great time, there were tons of fantastic artists and crafters there including Maria Mangano selling her prints and works on paper, Derek Reese selling beautiful mixed media pieces and Emily Walley, selling digital prints, screen prints and etchings. I bought a print from Emily for a christmas gift and I’m really happy with it, it’s gorgeous and is going to look fantastic framed.
I missed my chance to buy a painting from Derek, but I’ll have a second chance on New Year’s Eve at 131 7th St. from 7:00 pm until 11:00 pm at an exhibition Derek’s doing (you should go). His brother, Danin does custom framing from reclaimed barn wood.
